Local Farm Tours for Artist Grant
I am collaborating on a grant project with an artist friend. My portion of the project is to document a few local farms, showing the farmers at work. These photos will be displayed alongside the art so the viewers can appreciate local farms. When I learned about this project, I jumped at the chance to get out of my studio and meet the people who make our food here in Colorado.
I love shooting on location to capture the essence of a place. The first stop is an organic berry farm that has been family-run for generations. The farmers have had to adapt as the climate has warmed. They now focus on growing various crops for their farm stand. They are also experimenting with popcorn, which thrives in the hotter climate and is a hit with customers.
The second farm we visited was an award-winning alpaca farm. I was captivated by these beautiful animals—they are curious, gentle, and adorable! I was also impressed by the abundance of native plants on the farm, which support pollinators and birds, helping them flourish.
