Cheryl Koehler, Publisher of Edible East Bay, and I enjoyed our collaboration on everything mustard from breakfast to dessert and cocktails! We both came up with the recipes and I styled and shot all of the photos in my studio! It was spicy fun!
2023 Best of Edible Awards Winners & Finalists
Year over year, Edible Communities’ network of more than 75 hyper-local food and drink publications in the U.S. and Canada continue to share the enchantment and edification of knowing where our food comes from.
From stories and imagery about their region’s farmers and fishermen, artisans and chefs to recipes and how-tos, Edible publications celebrate local food and drink, season by season.
And each year, the Best of Edible Awards recognize their incredible work. From the best stories and recipes to photography and illustration, hundreds of entries were submitted by publishers, representing the best content that appeared in their magazines in 2022.
Finalists were chosen by peer review and a winner for each category was selected by accomplished, award-winning writers in the food space: Barry Estabrook, Dianne Jacob and Keia Mastrianni.
We invite you to dive into the work of the winners and finalists—and hope that you enjoy each and everyone as much as we do.

Edible East Bay
“In late February and early March, a yellow haze of wild mustard (Brassica juncea) hovers over green Bay Area hillsides and flows like rivers between Wine Country vineyard rows. This is mustard’s moment—when we all say, ah, how pretty—and then the straggly weed goes brown in the summer drought.”
