It’s not uncommon for a photo shoot to produce a spectacular photo that simply finds no place in the issue. That was the case for photographer Judy Doherty’s still life on our cover, which was left over from our Winter 2021-22 issue’s feature on olio nuovo. We’re pleased to welcome her back. We had a ball working with the Octonuts marketing team to create a photo library of their CPG brand and products using food photography and package photography. Their ideas for single ingredient, maximum flavor, fun, and tasty was very easy to articulate visually. We worked on a creative deck together to plan stop motion and still images with their products, flavor cues, and bright colors. Here are a few favorites.

We see a lot of AI these days, and playing with the tools is always fun. We find AI most useful for creative deck inspiration and filling in the blanks for lifestyle backgrounds and ingredients that are out of season.

Working with grass-fed beef is always a delight. It is more sustainable and nutritious but it is also more lean. We have a lot of fun pairing herbs, garlic, seasonings, and vegetables when styling the meat. But the best part is when we get to design recipes and photograph them.

We designed a creative deck and storyboard with the GE marketing team for use on Amazon, Shopify, marketing brochures, and social channels.

Here is the most delicious recipe development project with food styling using all of our new props from Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel, and Williams and Sonoma. Plus it has our new sunlight lighting form from our food photography studio.

This is a new condiment for MisoHeat and while it might seem easy to shoot a bottle hot, the challenge is the making the beautiful foil title light up while keeping the sauce true to color. We are so happy to watch them grow!
